This potion was deep green in colour, which was used to contain brains in a tank in the Brain Room, in the Department of Mysteries.[1] It was said to be foul-smelling.[2]
History[]
On 18 June 1996, when Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley, Hermione Granger, Ginny Weasley, Neville Longbottom and Luna Lovegood entered the Brain Room in the Department of Mysteries in the British Ministry of Magic whilst searching for Sirius Black, they came across a tank of human brains immersed in this potion.[1] During the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, whilst Harry was chasing Bellatrix Lestrange through the Ministry after she murdered Sirius Black in the Death Chamber, she fired a curse at the tank of brains, which caused it to tip up and cover Harry in the foul-smelling solution within, with the sentient brains trying to wrap their tentacles around Harry's head. He managed to lift the brains off him with the Levitation Charm.[2]
During the Calamity which affected the wizarding world in the late 2010s, a tank of brains containing this potion appeared as a Foundable guarded by a wizard Confoundable, which members of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force had to deal with.[3]
