Brilliant Event Fantastic Flora and Fauna I

The Forbidden Forest has been thrown out of sorts by the Calamity. Lend Hagrid a helping hand by returning the forest's missing flora and fauna to its proper place.[1]

Brilliant Forbidden Forest[]

"Hello there! I know yeh've got yer hands full w' Confoundables everywhere and such, but i could use yer help w' somethin' in particular, if yer willing.

Yeh see, somethin's not right 'bout the Forbidden Forest. Ever since the Calamity started disappearin' creatures, the forest's been thrown outta sorts.

If you come across any Foundables from Forbidden Forest, let me know, would yeh?

Brilliant Buckbeak WU
Brilliant Buckbeak
Return To: The Forbidden Forest
After fleeing from an unjust execution with the help of Harry Potter, Buckbeak went on the run with the fugitive Sirius Black. Following Black's death, Buckbeak — rechristened 'Witherwings' to avoid further prosecution — rejoined the Hippogriff herd at Hogwarts.
"Beaky! He's my special favourite Hippogriff. It's good to have him back where he belongs."
Rubeus Hagrid[src]
Brilliant Unicorn WU
Brilliant Unicorn
Return To: The Forbidden Forest
Shy but powerfully magical creatures, Unicorns are swift-footed enough to outrun most predators. Their speed and agility are especially vital for those living in the notoriously dangerous Forbidden Forest.
"Not many can say they've gotten so close to a Unicorn. Shy, they are... Yeh've done a good thing, sendin’ her home to the forest."
Rubeus Hagrid[src]
SalamanderWU
Brilliant Salamander
Return To: The Forbidden Forest
Small, magical lizards that are born from fire, Salamanders may appear red or blue depending on the temperature of the flames. They are capable of living outside of their fires for four to six hours, but will die instantly if their fire is extinguished.
"Well now, that's more like it! Salamanders are proper magical beasts. Returning this little fella will bring some harmony back to the forest."
Rubeus Hagrid[src]
Brilliant Scorched Tree Stump WU
Brilliant Scorched Tree Stump
Return To: The Forbidden Forest
This stump appears to be that of a yew tree, a species indigenous to England and Scotland. Its bark has been scorched by fire, perhaps by one of the many magical creatures that call the Forbidden Forest home.
"Well, that stump definitely come from the forest. I think it was even the home to a creature at some point! Maybe see if yeh can find somethin' more... livin' next time, eh?"
Rubeus Hagrid[src]
SnargaluffWU
Brilliant Snargaluff
Return To: The Forbidden Forest
Closely resembling a harmless tree stump, the Snargaluff plant is known to attack with grasping, thorny vines when provoked. Despite this effective method of self-defence Snargaluffs are cultivated for the pulsating green pods contained within their stumps. For safety reasons, it is recommended that any attempt to harvest a Snargaluff's pods be done in pairs.
"Ah, vou've got yerself a Snargaluff Sprout would be chuffed. That's one livin' thing returned to the forest only a few ‘undred more to go!"
Rubeus Hagrid[src]
Brilliant Young Acromantula WU
Brilliant Young Acromantula
Return To: The Forbidden Forest
Acromantulas are giant, sentient spiders capable of human speech. Although they are native to the rainforests of Southeast Asia, rumours persist of a colony living deep within the Forbidden Forest of Hogwarts.
"Ah, an Acromantula! Magnificent creatures, aren't they? He'll be much happier with his kin in the forest."
Rubeus Hagrid[src]
"The Forbidden Forest's more like its old self now it's regained some o' its missin' creatures. Thanks for all yer help — couldn't've done it without yeh!"

Part II (July 28th - August 4th, 2020)[]

Brilliant Event Fantastic Flora and Fauna II

This new Calamity seems to feature Confoundables that are affecting the environment - albeit ever so slightly. We've never seen the Calamity work like this before - why is it happening?[1]

Brilliant Forbidden Forest Pond[]

"Ah, there yeh are! About a year ago you were such a big help returnin' creatures to the forest, I thought maybe yeh'd be willin' to help out again.

Yeh see, the Calamity's set somethin' loose that shouldn't be. Somethin' dangerous. It's burned a path right through the Forbidden Forest!
"
Rubeus Hagrid[src]
"Hagrid, are you saying that there is actual physical damage being done in the Forbidden Forest? By a Foundable?"
Hermione Granger
"Aye. Seems like maybe so. Something burned that path — and it wadn't no angry Blast-ended Skrewt, I can tell yeh."
Rubeus Hagrid[src]
"This is terrible news. If the creatures stolen by the Calamity have started affecting the environment outside of the Traces? This might be a real disaster."
Hermione Granger[src]

Brilliant Newt Scamander WU
Brilliant Newt Scamander
Return To: Forbidden Forest Pond, Hogwarts
Newton "Newt" Scamander rose to fame as the author of the seminal text on Magizoology, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Although he gained celebrity status as a bestselling author, he would go on to retire to a quiet life in Dorset with his wife Porpentina and their pet Kneazles: Hoppy, Milly and Mauler.
"Merlin's beard! You met Newt Scamander? Amazin' bloke. Wrote the book on Magizoology, he did."
Rubeus Hagrid[src]
"I think it is safe to assume that if a Foundable version of Newt could affect the world, he certainly wouldn't set fire to it."
Hermione Granger[src]
Dragon claw WU
Dragon claw
Return To: Forbidden Forest Pond, Hogwarts
A discarded clow from an unknown Dragon. Dragon claw are sometimes powdered for use as a brain-boosting ingredient in Potion-making.
"Now that's interestin'. Dragon claws are valuable to Potion-makers, but they aren't easy to get hold of, on account of 'em being attached to Dragons."
Rubeus Hagrid[src]
Dragon-hide gloves WU
Dragon-hide gloves
Return To: Forbidden Forest Pond, Hogwarts
Made from the tough, thick skin of a dragon, Dragon-hide gloves protect the wearer from nurns and other injuries. Due to the sometimes dengerous nature of the work, Dragon-hide gloves are recommended equipment for the study of Herbology and Magizoology.
"Dragon-hide gloves, eh? They're dead useful when you're handlin' creatures what don't want to be handled."
Rubeus Hagrid[src]
Fire Crab WU
Fire Crab
Return To: Forbidden Forest Pond, Hogwarts
Fire Crabs resemble tortoises with crab-like legs and are coveted for their valuable, jewel-encrusted shells. Despite their effective self-defense measure — the ability to shoot flames from their backsides — Fire Crabs are a protected species whose trade and breeding are regulated by the Ministry of Magic.
"I've got some experience with Fire Crabs, and they generally won't blast yeh if yeh don't provoke 'em, but if you do? One of 'em nearly cost me my beard once."
Rubeus Hagrid[src]
Fire seed bush WU
Fire seed bush
Return To: Forbidden Forest Pond, Hogwarts
The Fire seed bush is plant that burns continuously as it grows, extinguishing only once it dies. It is endemic to Great Britain and produces seeds with magical properties.
"Hagrid, could a Fire seed bush do the damage to the Forest that you saw?"
Hermione Granger[src]
"A Fire seed bush could certainly start a fire, but nothin' like that. I think we're lookin' for somethin' packing a bit more of a punch."
Rubeus Hagrid[src]
Ukrainian Ironbelly WU
Ukrainian Ironbelly
Return To: Forest area outside Kyiv, Ukraine
Native to Ukraine, the Ironbelly is the largest Dragon species — capable of flying off with an entire ship in it's clay. Its hide is metallic grey and especially strong, giving the dragon its name. A trained Ironbelly was used to protect Gringotts Wizarding Bank for many years.
"Oooh, a Ukrainian Ironbelly, of course! Beautiful creatures, and great fire-breathers... well, that explains the state of the forest, dunnit?"
Rubeus Hagrid[src]
"Can we be sure THIS dragon Foundable burned the Forest?"
Hermione Granger[src]
"Well, since the Calamity returned her to her home, we're not goin' to get a chance to ask her, are we? But this does remind me...
I did see a rather large creature flying about late last night. Thought it might be a bird. Coulda been an Ironbelly. But she weren't stuck in a Trace at all. She was flyin' free.
"
Rubeus Hagrid[src]
"Hagrid, I think I have something I need you to do. I need you to go find us an Ironbelly."
Hermione Granger[src]
"Hermione! I found yer Ironbelly! She was poking around a Trace in the Forest and when she saw me he let out a belch o' flame... was somethin'!"
Rubeus Hagrid[src]
"So it was an actual Ironbelly? Not a Foundable."
Hermione Granger[src]
"Correct. Absoluely real as me own face. And this Ironbelly — she's far from her home. Must've been drawn here for somethin' to make her fly this far west..."
Rubeus Hagrid[src]
"I wonder... There have been some theories around being a Foundable — that if a piece of you is stolen, you can feel it. That you can sense it. I wonder if Fantastic Beasts feel it more..."
Hermione Granger[src]
"Tis a possibility. Dragons are far more sensitive creatures than you think. At least, if she was hurtin', we sent that piece right back to her. Twas the right thing to do."
Rubeus Hagrid[src]
