In the Atrium of the British Ministry of Magic, there was a security desk that was usually manned by one guard. At this desk sat the Wand Weigher, a device that examined the characteristics of a visitor's wand. All visitors had to present themselves and their wands at this desk upon entry to the Ministry.[1] It caught fire during the duel in the Ministry Atrium, and it is unknown if it was rebuilt.[2]
It is likely that the desk was made of wood or some other inflammable substance, as it caught fire when hit by the Killing Curse,[2] whose purpose was not specifically to create fire, but simply to kill or destroy whatever it hit, and it had different effects depending on what it hit.
