The budgerigar, also called the budgie or parakeet, is a small parrot native Australia, which is commonly kept as a pet throughout the world.[1]

In 1995, a budgerigar named Bungy who lived at the Five Feathers in Barnsley, Yorkshire, made the seven o'clock news for learning how to water-ski.[2]

On 22 May, 2014, when the Welsh and the German National Quidditch teams faced off during the first round, German Seeker Thorsten Pfeffer attempted but failed to perform the Wronski Feint, and collided with the ground at a high speed. While his manager reassured the press of Pfeffer's likely full recovery, at the time, the injured German Seeker believed himself to be a budgerigar called Klaus.[3][4]
