Caithness is a registration county, lieutenancy area and historic local government area of the Highlands of Scotland.
The McGonagalls lived here in the twentieth century in the local Highlands, after Robert McGonagall and his wife Isobel Ross eloped into a manse on the outskirts of Caithness. Caithness was, thus, the birthplace of their children: Minerva, Malcolm and Robert Jr.[1]
