A horoscope for the sign Capricorn in the Daily Prophet
Capricorn is one of the twelve astrological signs in the western zodiac. Every year, the sun is in this sign from 22 December to 20 January, and those born during this period are considered Capricorns (also called Capricornians).[1] The Daily Prophet ran a horoscope for Capricorn and the other signs of the zodiac in the horoscope section featured on its back page by 1995.[2]
Traits[]
According to horoscope experts, Capricorns were one of the Earth signs and were known for being astute and determined. They knew what they wanted and pursued it relentlessly. Severus Snape demonstrated this characteristic throughout his lifetime, particularly in his desire for the Defence Against the Dark Arts position. Despite Albus Dumbledore's rejection, Snape did not give up. He continued to push for the role, stepping in as a substitute when Professor Lupin was absent, and eventually achieved his goal in the 1996–1997 school year.[3]
Capricorns were also recognised for their practical intelligence and hardworking nature. Snape displayed these traits consistently, proving that he was not only skilled in magic but also adept at navigating complex situations with a practical approach. Another key trait of Capricorns was their independence. They preferred to rely on themselves rather than on others. This self-sufficiency, combined with their sense of responsibility and practicality, enabled Snape to succeed on his own, even when faced with adversity.[3]
As was often the case with Capricorns, Snape struggled to forgive and forget. If he felt mocked or undermined, he clung to grudges tightly. His disdain for Harry Potter stemmed from years of resentment towards James Potter and his friends. The bullying Snape endured, including being humiliated in front of the school and Lily Evans whom he admired, also made it difficult for him to let go of the animosity.[3]
One of the most notable traits of Capricorns was their loyalty to those they chose to keep close. Snape's loyalty, though often hidden beneath layers of complexity, remained steadfast to those he considered allies such as Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the Order of the Phoenix, and his love Lily.[3]
