The Compact Cassette, also known simply as the cassette tape, audio cassette, or cassette, is a magnetic tape audio recording format.[1] Originally designed for use in dictation machines, it became a popular format for commercial audio recordings in the 1970s, replacing the larger, less easy-to-use 8-track tape format.[1] It was, in turn, replaced by the compact disc format.[1]
History[]
Record Shop on Charing Cross Road in London bought used cassettes, as well as used 45s, 8-tracks, and CDs.[2]
Arthur Weasley had a Sanyo tape deck among the collection of Muggle artefacts he kept stored in his shed.[3]
