Cat hair was hair from a cat that may have been used in some potions. It was kept with other potion ingredients in the Potions Classroom at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.[2]

Hermione partially transformed into Millicent Bulstrode's cat after accidentally adding the cat's hair to her Polyjuice Potion
On 17 December 1992, Hermione Granger got some hair off of Millicent Bulstrode in the Duelling Club. She needed it to make Polyjuice Potion over the holidays. Harry Potter would become Vincent Crabbe, Ronald Weasley would become Gregory Goyle, and Hermione would become Millicent Bulstrode, in order to interrogate Draco Malfoy and learn if he was the heir of Salazar Slytherin on 25 December, Christmas day. Unfortunately, the hair that Hermione pulled off of Millicent's robes was from her cat, resulting in Hermione becoming a humanoid feline and leaving Harry and Ron to finish the job.[1] She was later sent to the Hospital Wing for recovery.[3]
