Catnip is the common name of a species of flowering plant in the genus Nepeta that produces compounds that serve as cat attractants.[2]

In 1875,[3] ex-Auror Patricia McManners mistakenly theorised that her neighbour Tabitha Smithers' catnip was Dark Magic and infiltrated her house in her Animagus form, a calico cat, in an attempt to investigate.[1]
