This cave was located on the outskirts of the all-wizarding village Hogsmeade in the Scottish Highlands, being situated a little way up the mountain in whose shadow the village laid. It was used by several people affiliated with the Order of the Phoenix during the Second Wizarding War.[1]
History[]
It was the home of Sirius Black, the former prisoner of Azkaban and Buckbeak during the 1994 Triwizard Tournament. He used this place to steal newspapers as a stray dog, in his Animagus form.
After the Second Task of the Triwizard Tournament, Sirius, Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger discussed their theories (on Barty Crouch Snr, Alastor Moody, Bertha Jorkins, Ludo Bagman, Severus Snape, Winky, Barty Crouch Jnr, the Malfoys, and Lord Voldemort) in the cave.[1]
From then on, they sent Sirius sweets, until Sirius moved back to his childhood home of 12 Grimmauld Place.[5]
After Dolores Umbridge, the Hogwarts High Inquisitor, sacked Rubeus Hagrid in 1996, he went to exile in this cave.[4] He returned to the cave, with his brother Grawp in 1998, after he was ambushed by Death Eaters.[6][2][3]
