A Certificate of Membership was an official document issued by the British Ministry of Magic to witches and wizards residing in Great Britain that granted the possessor legal recognition by the local wizarding governing body as part of the magical community under their jurisdiction. The citizenry of wizarding Britain was forbidden by law from storing the document anywhere where Muggles may have found it.[1]
