- New student: "Can I use Transfiguration magic like this outside of the Room?"
- Matilda Weasley: "Conjuring and Vanishing is strictly forbidden elsewhere in the castle. We've charms in place to enforce that. It would be exhausting to reverse the errors in both judgement and magic. But, the Room of Requirement has its own rules."
- — Professor Weasley explaining these charms to a student[src]
These spells (incantation unknown) were charms that prevented Conjuring and Vanishing within an area.[1]
History[]
By the late 19th century, these charms had been cast on Hogwarts Castle in order to save the school's staff the trouble of correcting reckless Conjuring and Vanishing by students; the charms did not, however, extend to the Room of Requirement, owing to its nature. During the 1890–1891 school year, then-Transfiguration professor Matilda Weasley told one of her students about them.[1]
