This Chupacabra lived in the Magical Creatures Reserve in the 1980s.

Biography

In the 1980s, Jacob's sibling would often bond with and feed this Chupacabra.

During the 1987–1988 school year, upon following reports that a "goat-eating beast" was on the loose, Rubeus Hagrid located this Chubacabra in a wizarding village being pursued by a group of angry farmers who saw it as a monster and wanted to get rid of it. After being cornered by the villagers, Hagrid managed to rescue the Chupacabra and brought it back to Hogwarts with him. However, Hagrid noticed that the creature refused to eat or sleep despite being perfectly healthy, which he theorised was due to the rough ordeal the creature had just underwent. However, the following day, Hagrid was asked to tidy up the Training Grounds for a Weird Sisters concert to be held that night, so he called Jacob's sibling to help him look after the Chupacabra while he was away. Noticing that the Chupacabra seemed to like Jacob's sibling, Hagrid suggested that Jacob's sibling could help him cheer up the Chupacabra, to which they agreed. Noting that the Chupacabra had been refusing to eat for hours, Hagrid suggested that it would be best to try to feed it first while Hagrid told Jacob's sibling about the Chupacabra's ordeal. Although the Chupacabra seemed to perk up slightly the nicer that Hagrid and Jacob's sibling were to it, it still refused to touch its food. Jacob's sibling theorised that the sensitive Chupacabra may have simply become depressed and lonely at the thought that it was only seen as a monster by the people around it after being called such by the villagers chasing it. Jacob's sibling suggested that they should try to show the Chupacabra that it was more than just a monster, though Hagrid thought that this would be difficult, as most people, especially goat-farmers, could only see the creature as a beast that sucked the blood from their livestock. However, Jacob's sibling replied that it could be possible for the image of a particular creature to become more positive, stating that Hippogriffs consumed meat and yet were still beloved by the wizarding community. Jacob's sibling therefore suggested that they improve the Chupacabra's image, which would help people be less frightened of it and help make the creature happy once again.

In order to help improve the Chupacabra's image, Jacob's sibling contacted Andre Egwu in the hopes that his knowledge of fashion and style could help. Upon hearing of the situation, Andre suggested that they should dress up the Chupacabra in the perfect outfit in order to make it more approachable. Jacob's sibling was sceptical of this idea, but upon seeing that the Chupacabra was alright with it, decided to allow Andre to design an outfit for the creature. However, after many attempts, the Chupacabra refused to be dressed at all, tearing up all of the outfits that Andre tried to put on it. Noticing that the Chupacabra was quite skilled in dodging his attempts to clothe it, Andre suggested that Jacob's sibling try to use its natural strategic abilities in some way, leading Jacob's sibling to come up with the idea to teach the Chupacabra Wizard's Chess in order to make the beast more approachable. Needing a skilled teacher to teach the Chupacabra how to play, Jacob's sibling contacted Murphy McNully and asked to meet with him in the Great Hall for a game of Wizard's Chess with the Chupacabra.

Upon being informed of the situation, Murphy agreed to train the Chupacabra to play Wizard's Chess, seeing it as an interesting challenge. Upon getting the Chupacabra's consent to begin, Murphy and the Chupacabra began their game. Afterwards, although the Chupacabra seemed to have enjoyed the game, its chaotic style made it unclear if it truly understood the rules. However, although the Chupacabra did appear to become happier after playing, Ben Copper arrived after overhearing the game and grew terrified of the Chupacabra, having heard that they could drain all of a goat's blood in a matter of minutes. After calling it a monster once again, Ben attempted to destroy the Chupacabra to defend Jacob's sibling and Murphy, but Jacob's sibling was successfully able to convince Ben to stand down. Despite this, Ben still didn't trust the creature, leaving the area in order to avoid getting his blood drained. Being called a monster once again immediately demoralised the Chupacabra, who no longer wanted to play Wizard's Chess. Jacob's sibling and Murphy soon realised that the Chupacabra wasn't upset because people were afraid of it, but rather because it had been rejected everywhere it went, making it feel like it didn't belong anywhere. Realising that it had only been happy when people spent time with it without being afraid, Murphy suggested that the Chupacabra might have simply been looking for friends, leading Jacob's sibling to decide to find a community that would appreciate the Chupacabra as it was rather than attempting to change the beast to fit in. Remembering the time that they cheered Tulip Karasu's toad Dennis up by having him join the Frog Choir, Jacob's sibling decided to go to Professor Filius Flitwick and have the Chupacabra perform an audition to join the Frog Choir in order to give it a community.

Although initially sceptical of allowing a Chupacabra into the Frog Choir, particularly after the disastrous experience he had with Knarl and his destruction of his production of Equinox Enchanted, Flitwick decided to grant the Chupacabra a short audition upon hearing of the creature's situation. Unfortunately, after the audition had completed, Flitwick decided not to admit the Chupacabra into the Frog Choir. However, at that moment, Myron Wagtail entered the Charms Classroom for an appointment with Flitwick and overheard the Chupacabra's audition. Thinking that the Chupacabra's sound was "brilliantly tourtured," Myron asked Jacob's sibling if the Chupacabra would be willing to join them for their concert that night, as they needed a sound that could "really cut through" for the noisy and dark song they were debuting at the concert. The Chupacabra excitedly agreed to join the Weird Sisters for the night's concert, leading to Jacob's sibling and the Chupacabra travelling to the Training Grounds to rehearse with Myron, Orsino Thruston, and Kirley Duke.

Upon arriving at the Training Grounds, Myron noted that the Chupacabra looked somewhat low energy, to which Jacob's sibling detailed their many attempts to find it a community in which it could belong. Upon hearing this, Myron asserted that the concert audience would appreciate it for exactly who it was if it could bring the same energy it had in the audition to their performance. After deciding upon a line to use to introduce the Chupacabra, the Weird Sisters began to rehearse. Afterward, although the Chupacabra did well appearance-wise, Jacob's sibling and Myron noticed that it was so worn out that it could barely make a sound. Remembering that it had been too depressed to eat earlier, Jacob's sibling realised that the Chupacabra must have been starving. Desiring to avoid having it suck the blood of a Hogwarts creature for sustenance, Myron suggested that Jacob's sibling should bring the Chupacabra to Zonko's Joke Shop, as they had just received a new shipment of Blood-flavoured lollipops that the Chupacabra might like.

After arriving at Zonko's, Jacob's sibling asked Bilton Bilmes if they could purchase a Blood-flavoured lollipop for the Chupacabra and explained what they had been through that day. However, the lollipops had already been sold out by the time they got there. Despite this, Bilton's inventory list indicated that a box of lollipops might still be around in the store, so he and Jacob's sibling began to look for them. Unfortunately, they were still unable to find the box. However, at that moment, Nymphadora Tonks revealed that she had been carrying the box with her while looking at other candies. Tonks agreed to share her lollipops with the Chupacabra in exchange for being allowed to watch the creature eat them, to which Jacob's sibling and the Chupacabra agreed. Once the Chupacabra had finally eaten, it immediately perked up and became full of energy once again. Desiring to repay Tonks for her help, Jacob's sibling got Tonks an invite to the Weird Sisters' and the Chupacabra's concert that night, as she had spent so long buying candies in Zonko's that she hadn't had time to buy a ticket for herself.

Jacob's sibling and the Chupacabra managed to make it back to the Training Grounds just in time and convinced Myron that the creature was ready to participate in the concert. After introducing the audience to the Chupacabra, the audience began to cheer for it, leading to the Chupacabra finally feeling acceptance from a larger community. The Weird Sisters, along with the Chupacabra's squawking, then began to play their new song, "Blood Sucker", to the crowd, to everyone's enjoyment. During the concert, Ben apologised for calling it a monster before and even wondered if he could get the Chupacabra's autograph. Moreover, Hagrid was pleased that Jacob's sibling had finally managed to help the Chupacabra find a place where it could be happy after its ordeal, to which Jacob's sibling explained that the Chupacabra didn't need to change itself but rather just needed to find friends who loved it for who it was. Hagrid asserted that the Chupacabra now had plenty of friends at Hogwarts as it continued to play with the band.

• The Chupacabra's name, just like all creatures in the Magical Creatures Reserve, can be customised by the player. The dialogue of the quest will subsequently change according to the name determined by the player.
