This spell (incantation unknown) is a charm that animates items of clothing, which can be controlled by their wearer. The clothes' actions may be directed by the spell's caster or they may act of their own accord.[1]
Known uses
In the summer of 1995, Ron Weasley was attacked and nearly strangled by a set of purple robes in 12 Grimmauld Place, before being saved by Mundungus Fletcher.[2] Hermione Granger mentioned this in 1997.
Behind the scenes
- In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, while Harry and Lord Voldemort are duelling in the catwalks by the Quad battlements, Voldemort causes several strips from his robes to lash out at Harry like tendrils and wrap around his arms and throat.[1] However, as this depiction of their duel contradicts the events as described in the novel, it is not considered canon.
Appearances
- Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (First appearance)
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Indirect mention)
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (Non-canonical appearance)
