Confronting the Faceless is a N.E.W.T.-level Defence Against the Dark Arts textbook. During his first and only year as professor of this subject in 1996, Severus Snape used it as the textbook for the Sixth year's classes. [1]
During their first class, Snape ordered his class to put their books away, due to wanting to practise nonverbal spells instead. Snape had the class read the first two paragraphs in page two-hundred-and thirteen of the book later that term, on the Cruciatus Curse.[2]
