- "A team of Warlocks from Cork flew over for a game in Lancashire and did offend the locals by beating their heroes soundly. The Irishmen knew tricks with the Quaffle that had not been seen in Lancashire before and had to flee the village for fear of their lives when the crowd drew out their wands and gave chase."
- — Zacharias Mumps, 1385[src]
Cork is the second largest city in Ireland and the island of Ireland's third most populous city, located on its southern coast.[1]
History[]
Since medieval times, it has had a part-wizard part-Muggle population.
The earliest mention of the establishment of Quidditch in Ireland was an account of a match between the local Quidditch team and a team from Lancashire, that took place in 1385 in Lancashire. The Irishmen beat the team from Lancashire and had to flee from the village afterwards when the crowd drew out their wands.[2]
After the International Statute of Secrecy, wizards continued to live in Cork to rely on each other for mutual support, living alongside the Muggle population.[3]
By 1992, the entirety of Cork was involved in what the records of the British Ministry of Magic described as the "biggest prank of all time".[4]
