A Cornish pasty is a type of pastry from Cornwall, England. It is usually filled with ground beef, vegetables and potatoes inside a flaky pastry crust, and then baked.

Cornish pasties were served at the Three Broomsticks Inn, where they were accompanied by a garden salad with choice of dressing.

History

During the late 19th century, Cornish pasties could be found among the food served in the Great Hall at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

On 24 June, 1995, Cornish pasties were among the food served for lunch on the day of the Third Task of the Triwizard Tournament.

• According to the Googlefish (translating the linked German page below), the literal translation of the German name for this foodstuff is "puff-pastry pasty", which is odd as this foodstuff is usually made with ordinary pastry, not puff pastry. Perhaps the German version is made from puff pastry.
