A Cornish pasty is a type of pastry from Cornwall, England. It is usually filled with ground beef, vegetables and potatoes inside a flaky pastry crust, and then baked.[1]

Cornish pasties were served at the Three Broomsticks Inn, where they were accompanied by a garden salad with choice of dressing.[1]

History[]

During the late 19th century, Cornish pasties could be found among the food served in the Great Hall at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.[2]

On 24 June, 1995, Cornish pasties were among the food served for lunch on the day of the Third Task of the Triwizard Tournament.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

  • They are sold at the Three Broomsticks Inn in the The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.[1]
  • According to the Googlefish (translating the linked German page below), the literal translation of the German name for this foodstuff is "puff-pastry pasty", which is odd as this foodstuff is usually made with ordinary pastry, not puff pastry. Perhaps the German version is made from puff pastry.
  • In the "Fantastic Feasts" event in Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells, small, medium, and large size of the Cornish pasty dish respectively requires the following ingredients:
    • Vegetables: 9, 16, 30
    • Flour: 6, 13, 32
    • Meat slices: 5, 10, 20
