- "I'd have managed it before then if Snape hadn't been muttering a counter-curse, trying to save you."
- — Quirinus Quirrell to Harry Potter in the Underground Chambers[src]
This counter-curse (incantation unknown) was used to counteract the broom jinx.[1]
History[]
In early November 1991, Severus Snape used this counter-curse to counteract Quirinus Quirrell's broom jinx on Harry Potter's broomstick during a game of Quidditch at Hogwarts.[1] However Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley and later Harry incorrectly thought that Snape was performing the jinx, as he kept eye contact and kept muttering under his breath,[2] whereas he was instead trying to counter-curse.[1] Quirrell later informed Harry of how he tried to kill him and how Snape instead tried to save him during the Quidditch match in the Underground Chambers.[1]
