A counter-ingredient is a substance that, when added to a potion, counteracts the effect of an incorrectly added ingredient.
When Albus Potter improperly added salamander blood to a potion he was making for a Potions class during the 2018–2019 school year, his partner Scorpius Malfoy asked him what the appropriate counter-ingredient was.[1]
