A crab apple is the fruit of any wild species of apple tree (genus Malus), which are generally small and bitter, in contrast to the large, palatable fruit produced by domestic apple trees (Malus domestica).[3]
History[]
There was at least one crab-apple tree that grew on the grounds of The Burrow. In 1997, as part of the decorations for Harry Potter's seventeenth birthday, Hermione Granger charmed the leaves of this tree gold.[1]
Two old, wind-bent crab-apple trees "stood sentinel" on either side of the front of the Lovegood House.[2]
