A crocodile is a semi-aquatic carnivorous reptile.[4] A crocodile was one possible corporeal form of the Patronus Charm.[5]
History[]
Crocodile hearts were used as potion ingredients,[2][3] such as in the Calming Draught.[3] Ron Weasley once threw one at Draco Malfoy during a Potions lesson in late 1993 at Hogwarts, resulting in Professor Snape deducting fifty house points from him.[2]
According to the 24 February 1927 issue of the Wizard Enquirer, crocodile bile supposedly had fattening properties.[6]
Rita Skeeter, a reporter for the Daily Prophet, owned a crocodile skin handbag, which she used to hold her belongings, such as her Quick-Quotes Quill.[7]
Fischer Frey, a Slytherin student at Hogwarts, had a corporeal Patronus in the form of a crocodile.[5]
