A custard tart was a type of pastry consisting of an outer pastry crust and filled with custard, typically eaten as a form of dessert.[1]
On 1 September 1992, custard tart was served at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry's Start-of-Term Feast. While in Severus Snape's office after Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley had crashed into the Whomping Willow, Albus Dumbledore told Snape that he wished to sample this "delicious-looking" food.[2]
While she was attending Hogwarts, Mellona Flume was addicted to custard tarts. She once wondered how many she could eat before the house-elves in the kitchens cut her off.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
- In the early German translation, this dessert was translated as "Senftorte". The translator probably confused the words custard and mustard. This was corrected to "Eiercremetorte" in later editions.
