Rumour has it that, before he arrested, Ryusaki was able to hide a Dark Scroll with the potion ingredients. To this day, though, no one knows if the Dark Scroll actually exists... or what its contents may be!"

This mind-enhancing potion was invented by Dai Ryusaki, who wrote the recipe onto the Dark Scroll and hid it.[1]
History[]
Corey Hayden informed Jacob's sibling about this potion through telling them about the Legend of Dai Ryusaki and the Dark Scroll during the 1990–1991 school year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Jacob's sibling then deduced that their brother Jacob had been gravely injured by a dark protective spell whilst trying to find the Dark Scroll, as his condition was getting worse at St Mungo's, and his burns were not healing from Burn-Healing Paste. They then spoke to Albus Dumbledore, who theorised that the dark protective spell which burnt Jacob was Protego Diabolica, which Jacob's sibling immediately notified St Mungo's Healer Miriam Strout about, who was able to heal Jacob of his injuries and save his life. Whilst speaking to their recovering brother in his St Mungo's hospital bed, he told them that he had in fact found the Dark Scroll in a cave in Japan, and had been burned with the dark charm which sprang up around it as a trap. When he found the scroll, he found it severed in half, and assumed that R had taken the over half to make the potion, which he said would endanger the whole wizarding world if they managed to brew it. He also told his sibling that he had realised one of its ingredients was Chinese Fireball claws, as dragon claws were known for their brain-boosting abilities.[1]

- Verucca Buckthorn-Snyde: "I spent weeks brewing that potion. Don't think it was easy!"
- Peregrine: "Its cryptic recipe hidden for ages on the Dark Scroll... this potion will greatly enhance Jacob's mental abilities."
- Jacob's sibling: "But we still have our section of the Dark Scroll... How did you complete Dai Ryusaki's potion?"
- Peregrine: "You can thank Merula for that. She informed us of the ingredients we were missing."

Much later on in the school year, Verucca Buckthorn-Snyde completed this potion in several weeks, having forced Merula into telling her the ingredients. In the Shrieking Shack, Peregrine completed the potion with a powerful wand, and had Jacob consume it along with wearing the Crown of Mneme, in order to enhance his Legilimency so he could perform mind control. Upon having consumed the potion and wear the Crown, Jacob was able to control the mind of Jacob's sibling's friend, but the demonstration went wrong, causing a power surge from Jacob's head.[2]
