The vampire, an example of Dark being
- "Folks opinions on vampires an' other 'Dark beings' vary significantly 'round the world. Lots o' people think the Ministry should be, uh, doin' somethin' not-so-nice abou' vampires. On the other hand, there are people who encourage a more acceptin' approach. Vampires are jus' another bein' we have teh share the world with."
- — Rubeus Hagrid[src]
The Dark being was an informal sub-classification of beings often feared, misunderstood, or associated with the Dark Arts.
Description[]
As explained by Rubeus Hagrid, the term Dark being wasn't an official designation by the British Ministry of Magic but more of a cultural stigma. Within the wizarding community of Britain, there have been calls for the extermination of all Dark beings in the past though they were more accepted in other parts of the world.[1] Vampires were the only known type of Dark being.[2]
