"Good evening, everyone. Tonight's lesson pairs quite well with the darkened skies. Dark energy and dark matter are impossible to observe, but they make up 95% of our universe. In fact, the universe couldn't exist without them. Let's begin!"

Dark Energy and Dark Matter HM

A book on the topic of dark energy and dark matter

Dark matter was a form of matter, that, along with dark energy, made up 95% of the universe. The existence of dark matter would have explained the galaxy's structural integrity.[1]

History[]

"Our solar system wouldn't exist without dark matter and energy!"
Professor Sinistra[src]

During the 1990–1991 school year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Professor Aurora Sinistra taught her seventh-year Astronomy students about dark matter and dark energy in an evening lesson.[1]
