Department for Science and Technology goods entrance sign
The Department for Science and Technology (DST) was presumably a branch of the Muggle government in Great Britain which regulated, funded, and oversaw scientific research and the technology industry.[1]
The DST's office was located in the London neighbourhood of Whitehall near the employee entrance to the headquarters of the British Ministry of Magic.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
- In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, on the day of their infiltration of the Ministry of Magic, the Trio wait in the goods entrance of the DST building to ambush Mafalda Hopkirk, Reg Cattermole, and Albert Runcorn as they walk down the street, hiding their Stunned bodies there afterwards. However, in the novel, they wait in a dark alleyway to ambush their quarries, and hide the bodies of Hopkirk and Runcorn in the back entrance of an abandoned theatre (Cattermole is sent away with a Puking Pastille).
