The Department of Magical Equipment Control was a division in the Ministry of Magic[1] in charge of overseeing and regulating trading practices to keep substandard merchandise out of circulation, such as faulty wands and loose-bottomed cauldrons.
History[]
In July of 1998, this Department issued a warning in the Daily Prophet about a shady street peddler in Diagon Alley named "Honest" Willy Wagstaff[1].
