This desk is located in the the library at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and is reserved for the school librarian. As such, it is behind this desk that they do a lot of their administrative work, such as preparing the library due date sheets and maintaining overdue records. It is also presumably where the library books are checked out, and to which returned books are delivered.

History

During her time occupying the position of Hogwarts librarian, students who entered the library would often find Madam Pince either seated behind or standing nearby this desk, from where she would often shush at those who talked loudly and keep a sharp eye on the students and, more importantly, how they treated the books.

A portrait of Tobias Misslethorpe, the founder of Witch Weekly Magazine, was hanging on the wall to the left of the desk.[1]
