- "Doctors? Those Muggle nutters who cut people up?"
- — Ron Weasley's view on doctors[src]
A doctor, also known as a Muggle healer by wizards,[1] was a Muggle profession dedicated to treating injuries and illnesses, and in maintaining human health, similar to Healers in the wizarding world.[2]
History[]
Many wizards and witches considered the methods used by Muggle doctors to be primitive, but some, such as Arthur Weasley and Augustus Pye, showed interest in their techniques.[3]
When Albus Dumbledore first met Tom Riddle at Wool's Orphanage to tell him about Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Tom originally believed Dumbledore to be a doctor, specifically from some sort of psychiatric hospital, sent by Mrs Cole to take him away.[4]
A team of doctors examined the bodies of the slain Riddle family following their death by the Killing Curse at the hands of a teenage Tom Riddle, but were unable to explain what had happened as the curse left no visible mark, nor any other evidence that could provide an explanation to a Muggle physician.[5]
A dentist was a form of doctor that specialised in oral health care. Hermione Granger's mother and father were both dentists.[6]
