The Double-ended newt is a magical beast consisting of two newts sharing the same body. They swim around a lot and their diet consists of algae.[1] Double-ended newts are often kept as pets by wizards and witches, and can be purchased from the Magical Menagerie in Diagon Alley.[1][2]

On 31 August, 1993, the clerk of the Magical Menagerie advised a customer how to take care of a Double-ended newt.[2]
