- "We want to experiment with Doxy venom for our Skiving Snackboxes."
- — Fred Weasley to Harry Potter[src]
Doxy venom was the venom extracted from Doxies.[1]
History[]
Doxy venom was highly poisonous, and should a human be bitten by a doxy and be poisoned by it, they would need to use the Antidote to Uncommon Poisons to be cured.[2]
During the 1990–1991 school year, an infestation of Doxies swarmed through Hogwarts Castle, resulting in many students receiving venomous Doxy bites, who had to be treated in the Hospital Wing.[4]
While helping clean at 12 Grimmauld Place, Fred and George Weasley collected Doxies so they could experiment with Doxy venom for their Skiving Snackboxes.[1]
Within the 1995–1996 school year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, this was confiscated by Dolores Umbridge from Fred and George Weasley. Ginny Weasley informed the trio of this in the Gryffindor common room, and the trio retrieved the venom from Umbridge's office using Harry Potter's Invisibility Cloak.[3]
