This Dragon Pox cure[2] was a potion which acted as the cure for the magical disease Dragon Pox.[1]
History[]
The cure was originally invented sometime in the 14th or 15th century by Gunhilda of Gorsemoor.[3][4][5] However, this cure apparently did not completely eradicate the disease, as people such as Abraxas Malfoy were still dying of it in the 20th century.[6]
During the 1990–1991 school year, Jacob's sibling helped a Healer at St Mungo's brew the cure for Dragon Pox in the Alchemy Room as part of their work experience at the hospital.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
- Though the question on Pottermore's sorting quiz regarding this cure does not specify which Headmaster was supposedly creating it, it is most likely intended to be Albus Dumbledore, as the hypothetical scenario posed by the question seem to be intended to take place around the time of the sorting in 1991, as the Hogwarts student records also mentioned in this question are supposed to be 1000 years old. Of course, as the scenario is hypothetical, it is possible this cure, at least as created by a Hogwarts Headmaster, does not exist at all.
