"This spectacular book lists all of the wild dragons living in Britain and Ireland today, from the Common Welsh Green to Hebridean Blacks."
— Description[src]

Dragon Species of Great Britain and Ireland is a book about the native dragon species in Great Britain and Ireland. It can be found in the Hogwarts Library.[1]

History[]

Rubeus Hagrid consulted this book after receiving a dragon egg which eventually hatched into a young Norwegian Ridgeback that Hagrid named Norbert.[1]

It is possible that Harry Potter or Cedric Diggory checked this book when they found out that the first task in the Triwizard Tournament involved dragons.

Behind the scenes[]

  • According to Pottermore, the book covers all dragon species living in Great Britain and Ireland, including the Hebridean Black and the Welsh Green. However, these are the only known dragons that live in Britain. It is possible that there are other rarer species of British dragons or that the book also covers interbreeding of those species with others. Alternatively, it may also cover dragon species that live in Ireland, as no dragons yet have been specified to live in Ireland.
