- "They give one horribly bad breath."
- — Description[src]
Dragon tartare was an hors d'oeuvre made from finely chopped, raw dragon meat. It was served at the Slug Club Christmas party in December 1996.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
- In the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, at Slughorn's Christmas party, Hermione Granger ate this food in an attempt to avoid her date that evening, Cormac McLaggen on behalf of it giving the eater foul breath. Minutes later, when Harry Potter lies to Cormac, who had tried some of it himself, that they were "dragon balls", Cormac ends up unintentionally throwing up on Severus Snape's shoes, earning a month's detention from the professor.[1] This scene does not appear in the book depiction of the event,[2] so therefore, it cannot be considered canon.
