- — Seconds before the duel[src]
A duel occurred between Harry Potter, the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, and Draco Malfoy in 2020, following the latter's upsetment of Harry's late action that had affected his son Scorpius.[1]
History[]
During the recent events where Albus Potter, Scorpius Malfoy, and Delphini went and stole a crucial Time-Turner from the British Ministry of Magic and ended up in the Forbidden Forest after one of the uses, the first two's parents, Harry and Ginny Potter and Draco Malfoy looked for them in the forest. During the search, Harry walked into Bane the centaur, who told him about the dark energy he saw around, near even, Albus.[2] After Albus and Scorpius were found, Harry separated the two best friends from each other every way he could, including changing the school timetables at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and threatened Hogwarts professors (e.g. forcing Headmistress McGonagall to keep an eye on the two using the Marauder's Map), believing Scorpius to be the dark cloud.[1]
Draco eventually came to Harry at his family home in frustration to discuss, however, in the kitchen when Harry revealed Bane's information and his interpretation that Scorpius was the dark cloud and further the implication that the boy was not Draco's son but the rumoured child of Lord Voldemort, causing Draco's anger to exceed its limit.[1]
The duel started with the two casting the Disarming Charm, breaking them apart. Draco cast the Incarcerous Spell as Harry cast the Dancing Feet Spell, both dodged them. Draco cast Densaugeo, the Knockback Jinx, and Emancipare, Harry cast the Tickling Charm, Brachiabindo, and the Dangling Jinx, insulting each other during the duel. Draco jumped on and down the table as Harry threw spells at him and at one point a chair. The duel lasted for about three minutes when Ginny returned to the kitchen and stopped the fight.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
- When Tom Felton, who portrayed Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, returned to reprise the role in the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play, the lines were altered where when Draco jumped on the table, he pointed his wand up at the centre of his face and said the iconic line "Scared, Potter?", mimicking the iconic scene in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets where Draco, portrayed by Felton, did the exact same thing during the Duelling Club. The line broke fans in the theatre into cheers and claps, reportedly breaking Felton into tears.[3]
