This Duel took place during the Battle of Hogwarts on 2 May, 1998, with Hermionie Granger, Ginny Weasley, and Luna Lovegood on one side, and Bellatrix Lestrange on the opposing side.[1]

The Battle of Hogwarts

On 2 May, 1998 Lord Voldemort, along with his Death Eaters arrived at Hogwarts with the intention of killing Harry Potter, thereby fulfilling the prophecy about him and Harry, that neither could live while the other survived. A long battle occurred starting at midnight,[2] and eventually during a major skirmish, almost all Death Eater forces were defeated, with Yaxley slammed to the floor by George Weasley and Lee Jordan, Dolohov falling with a scream at Flitwick's hands, Walden Macnair being thrown across the room by Hagrid, hitting the stone wall opposite, and sliding unconscious to the ground, Ron Weasley and Neville Longbottom bringing down Fenrir Greyback, Aberforth Dumbledore hitting Rookwood with a Stunning Spell, Arthur and Percy Weasley flooring Thicknesse, and Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy running through the crowd, not even attempting to fight, screaming for their son Draco Malfoy.[1]

The Duel

Meanwhile, Bellatrix Lestrange was still fighting as well, fifty yards away from Lord Voldemort, who was duelling Kingsley Shacklebolt, Minerva McGonagall, and Horace Slughorn. Like her master, she duelled three at once: Hermione Granger, Ginevra Weasley, and Luna Lovegood, each of the three girls battling their hardest. Despite not using her personal wand, Bellatrix fought back fiercely, proving herself an equal in power to the three of them. At one point in the duel, Bellatrix fired a Killing Curse that missed Ginny by an inch, causing Molly Weasley to shout out in fury at Bellatrix.[1]

Bellatrix then went on to taunt Molly about the death of her son, provoking Molly's rage further. Molly and bellatrix then began to engage in a ferocious duel, with both woman fighting to kill. After both fighting each other breifly, Molly shot a curse at Bellatrix that hit her directly over her heart, causing the latter to fall down and die.[1]
