This duel occurred between Jacob's sibling and Eustace Burke in the Hospital Ward at St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries.[1]

History[]

Background information[]

During the internship programme for seventh-year Hogwarts students hosted by St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries in the 1990–1991 school year, the former student Jacob was taken in and cared for by his sibling and their friends. Penny Haywood got a CD case from Madam Miriam Strout and gave it to Jacob as a get-well gift, but later when his sibling was with them, the three all started laughing uncontrollably. They later found out that the CD case was cursed and caused anyone who had touched it to laugh. After they sought out Professors Filius Flitwick and Arif Sikander's help in destroying the CD case, the laughing curse was lifted and Jacob's sibling returned to the hospital. They performed Legilimency on Zenith Xeep, a witch who was also admitted and had past connections with R, to find out if the organisation was behind the curse, and learned of Burke, a member of R who had infiltrated the hospital as a Healer.[1]

The duel[]

Jacob's sibling approached Burke in the Hospital Ward and asked him about the CD case. He appeared to remain calm for a while and asked Jacob's sibling to do the same, before drawing his wand and preparing to duel. Jacob's sibling asked their friends to protect the patients in the ward and defeated Burke in the duel. The "Director" of R then Apparated and struck Jacob's sibling down, and before they were able to extract information from her, she Disapparated with Burke.[1]

Aftermath[]

When Jacob's sibling and Alastor Moody went to Azkaban to talk to Kazuhiro Shiratori, they found out that Burke was at the Romanian Dragon Sanctuary getting a Chinese Fireball claw as was written on the Dark Scroll. They quickly went there and prevented him from getting it through another duel. Burke was then locked up in Azkaban as well.[2]
