- "So this is the team that's going to stop the most dangerous wizard we've faced in over a century? A Magizoologist, his indispensable assistant, a schoolteacher, a wizard descended from a very old French family...and a Muggle, a baker, with his fake wand."
- — Theseus Scamander[src]
This army[3] was an organisation founded by Newton Scamander at Albus Dumbledore's request in 1932. Newt was entrusted to assemble intrepid wizards and witches to fight against Gellert Grindelwald and his Alliance during the Global Wizarding War.[1]
Plan[]
- "Dumbledore asked that I convey a message.."
- — Newt Scamander explaining the plan to Dumbledore's first army[src]
The plan consisted of Albus Dumbledore telling Newt to hand out items according to each member of the army.[4]
The main plan to defeat Gellert Grindelwald during his electoral candidacy was to have many overlapping plans to confuse him as he had Seer abilities.
Items left to individuals[]
Bunty Broadacre's secret letter from Albus Dumbledore[]
Bunty was given a letter that told her to take Newton Scamander's suitcase and replicate it into half a dozen for each member to have their own case. It also told her to tell Newt that 'nobody knows everything, not even him.' This meant any member including Newt would know the plan except for that there were seven cases.
Jacob Kowalski's wand[]
Newt was asked by Albus to give Jacob Kowalski a wand that Albus owned with no magical properties, no core, though it was Snakewood. That wand was given to him so he could enter the Candidates' Dinner and make him out to be a Wizard, though him actually being a Muggle.
Theseus Scamander's tie[]
Theseus was given this phoenix-embossed tie that was a Portkey by Albus to get out of any place he was trapped in, which worked as he was imprisoned at the Erkstag. The Portkey teleported them directly to the Forbidden Forest east of the Hogwarts Castle next to the Great Lake.
Eulalie Hicks's book[]

This was a book that served as a Portkey.[1]
History[]
Background information[]
While trying to figure out how to destroy the blood pact created by him and Gellert Grindelwald in their youth, Albus Dumbledore could not fight this alone, so he got Newt to start a group to fight against his former lover.[1]
The army (1930s–1945)[]
Formation[]
Sometime between 1927 and the 1930s, Newt put together a team, consisting of Theseus Scamander, Eulalie Hicks, Yusuf Kama, Jacob Kowalski and Bunty Broadacre, to move against the Dark wizard.[1]
Fighting against Gellert Grindelwald[]
Once they formed, they travelled to Hogwarts Castle to meet with Albus Dumbledore. Once there, they met with him and and Professor Minerva McGonagall in the Great Hall. They later met up in the Room of Requirement, to take the Qilin Ceremony Portkey to the Eyrie.[1]
The wizarding long-distance train service Great Wizarding Express stopped at Friedrichstraße Station from London's King's Cross Station, to take Newton Scamander's army to Berlin.[5][6]
Behind the scenes[]
- "Unable to stop him alone, he entrusts Magizoologist Newt Scamander to lead an intrepid team of wizards, witches and one brave Muggle baker on a dangerous mission, where they encounter old and new beasts and clash with Grindelwald’s growing legion of followers."
