- "Viewers as far apart as Kent, Yorkshire, and Dundee have been phoning in to tell me that instead of the rain I promised yesterday, they’ve had a downpour of shooting stars!"
- — Jim McGuffin[src]
Dundee is the fourth largest city in Scotland, located near the eastern coast.[1] In 1981, Yorkshire was one of the places where wizards celebrated Lord Voldemort's downfall by creating showers of shooting stars, which was witnessed by Muggles. Muggle viewers reported this to meteorologist Jim McGuffin, who gave a report about it on the news that evening.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
- The Mainland Chinese version of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone included various footnotes from the translator explaining various aspects of British culture to Chinese readers. However, the footnote explaining Dundee incorrectly claims it to be a port in the north of England.
