The Dunstable Duelling Championship was an annual duelling tournament held "in the furthest most field" from Dunstable Town Hall. It was run by the British Wizard Duelling Association.[1]
History[]
The wizard Gilderoy Lockhart had a certificate claiming that he had won this championship,[1] but given his poor ability in this field of magic[2] and history of fraudulence,[3] it was almost certainly a forgery.
Lockhart also included the question "Has Gilderoy Lockhart ever won the Dunstable Duelling Championship for Wizards or just been pipped at the post?" on a pop quiz concerning himself that he gave to his second-year Defence Against the Dark Arts students in 1992.[4] One student answered, "Pipped to the post, I'm afraid,"[4] and another answered, "Always won."[5]
