"He was trying to access the vault of Sir Elric Parpidum."
Griphook regarding an attempted theft of his Gringotts vault[src]

Sir Elric Parpidum was a British wizard who was famous for having been a dragon slayer. He also liked to collect dragon claws which he stored in his vault at Gringotts Wizarding Bank.[1]

Biography[]

During his lifetime, he was a famous and highly successful dragon slayer several centuries before the 20th century. He liked to take dragon claws from his kills as trophies, and stored them in his vault at Gringotts.[1]

During the 1990–1991 school year, a Dark wizard wearing a cap (later revealed to be Eustace Burke) attempted to break into his vault at Gringotts Wizarding Bank, to which Griphook refused to divulge what was contained inside his vault to Merula Snyde when she was investigating the crime scene as part of their Auror work experience, with Jacob's sibling and Nymphadora Tonks, citing client confidentiality.[1]

Jacob's sibling later researched him in books found in the Hogwarts Library. They discovered that he was most famous for duelling a Chinese Fireball and guessed that he likely had Chinese Fireball dragon claws in his vault, which was an object that the dark organisation R needed as an ingredient for Dai Ryusaki's mind-enhancing potion. This realisation eventually led to the capture of Burke in the Romanian Dragon Sanctuary as he attempted to aquire Chinese Fireball claws a different way.[1][2]

Magical abilities and skills[]

  • Duelling: He was most famous for his duel with a Chinese Fireball and was likely highly skilled in it, due to the dangerous nature of dragons and the fact he survived many encounters.[1]
