- Harry Potter: "Mr Weasley, aren't we still underground?"
- Arthur Weasley: "Yes, we are, Those are enchanted windows. Magical Maintenance decide what weather we'll get every day. We had two months of hurricanes last time they were angling for a pay raise."

An enchanted window was a window that was enchanted to show whatever weather one wished to see.[1]
History[]
The Winter Window in the Herbarium at Hogwarts displayed a scene of perpetual snowfall throughout the year.[2]

Amos Diggory and Jacob's sibling studying these windows in the Ministry
The British Ministry of Magic used these windows to give the workers a sense that they were above ground, when in fact they were located below the ground. The Magical Maintenance Department was in charge of deciding what weather they would get every day. On one occasion the workers in the Magical Maintenance Department caused two straight months of hurricanes, because they desired a pay raise.[1]
During the 1990–1991 school year, an unidentified Metamorphmagus infiltrated the Ministry and cursed the enchanted windows, causing them to display only hurricanes.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
- The windows did not appear in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
