- "Professor McGonagall raised her wand again and pointed it at Snape’s desk. A large plate of sandwiches, two silver goblets, and a jug of iced pumpkin juice appeared with a pop."

Endless Sandwiches[2] (incantation unknown) was a transfiguration spell that caused a plate of sandwiches to appear. The plate would also refill itself after the sandwiches were eaten.[1]
History[]
Endless Sandwiches was one of the favourite spells of Professor Minerva McGonagall, along with the Animation Charm and the Bird-Conjuring Charm.[3] She nonverbally cast it in 1992 so that Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley could have their dinner in Severus Snape's office in the Dungeons without interrupting the Start-of-Term Feast in the Great Hall.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
- While the spell seems to be a form of conjuration, this is impossible, since conjuration of food is not allowed according to Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration. It may be that these sandwiches were transported into the room, similarly to how food is transported into the Great Hall from the kitchens below, and then charmed to duplicate the food, as multiplication of food is not a violation of Gamp's Law.
