Essence of Insanity was a potion which caused irrational decision making in the drinker.[1][2]
History
Considered "exceedingly dangerous", the brewing of this potion was taught to Sixth years in the 1989–1990 school year at Hogwarts, by Professor Severus Snape in Potions class.[2]
On 21 April, 1997, Ron Weasley sarcastically offered Harry Potter this potion after Harry consumed Felix Felicis, as he felt his friend was behaving erratically.[1]
