The Eurocheque logo
The Eurocheque was a system to allow businesses of different nationalities within Europe to process payments made using foreign banking systems.[1]
History[]
In 1981 businesses within Great Britain were accepting Eurocheque banking cards.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
The Eurocheque system was introduced in 1969 with fourteen participating countries. In 1972 universal Eurocheque banking cards were introduced. By 1974, Eurocheque International C.V. was formed to process payments made. By 1983, the UK had removed the Eurocheque logo from its own banking cards. The system was eventually closed down in 2002.
