The Evening Prophet was the name of the evening edition of the Daily Prophet. Unlike the main Prophet, the Evening Prophet was only published when a particularly noteworthy event happened, in which case it is "rushed out".[1]

The only known times that this has happened are the illegal flight of a Flying Ford Anglia by Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley across Great Britain (Flying Ford Anglia Mystifies Muggles) and a search on Malfoy Manor by the Office for the Detection and Confiscation of Counterfeit Defensive Spells and Protective Objects.

Known excerpts

A known excerpt from the Evening Prophet was an article concerning Arthur Weasley's second search of Malfoy Manor. The text was the following:

"This second search of the Death Eater's residence does not seem to have yielded any results. Arthur Weasley of the Office for the Detection and Confiscation of Counterfeit Defensive Spells and Protective Objects said that his team had been acting upon a confidential tip-off"

This "confidential tip-off" was from Harry Potter, who told Arthur Weasley at King's Cross about Draco Malfoy and the thing that he was trying to get Borgin to fix when Harry, Ronald Weasley, and Hermione Granger eavesdropped on Malfoy in Borgin and Burkes. This object turned out to be a Vanishing Cabinet, the one in Borgin and Burkes had a twin in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and Malfoy was mending the two so that he could help the Death Eaters get into Hogwarts despite all the protective enchantments around it.
