Within Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, the player is able to romance several characters. Upon reaching level seven romance with their chosen character, the player receives an exclusive quest with that character that enables them to date that character exclusively. All the side quests take place in the 1989–1990 school year.
It is possible for the player to do every exclusive quest and get every reward by individually getting all characters to level seven romance, doing the quest, then breaking up with them and starting over with someone else.
Upon going exclusive with someone, a framed portrait of them will appear in the player's dormitory and they will occasionally get a letter from their partner delivered by a pink owl.
Quests[]
Merula's exclusive quest[]
A portrait of Merula Snyde
Merula invited Jacob's sibling to Flourish and Blotts, where she had ordered a delivery of a limited-edition copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard. However, she was upset to find that it was in bad condition. Jacob's sibling suggested that they repair the book. Merula agreed and they went to the Boathouse, where Merula revealed that the book she had ordered was actually her family's copy, which she had loved reading as a kid but had lost track of when her mother and father had been sent to Azkaban. Jacob's sibling shared their own memories of The Tales of Beedle the Bard and Merula let them cast the spell which repaired the book. As thanks, Merula held a romantic picnic on the shore of the Great Lake for herself and Jacob's sibling and gave them a slap bracelet inspired by The Tales of Beedle the Bard.[1]
Andre's exclusive quest[]
A portrait of Andre Egwu
Andre was looking for inspiration to design a scarf for his cousin, Jules Egwu, and used the Colour Change Charm on his favourite set of trousers, but accidentally made them technicolour. In a panic, he asked for advice from Jacob's sibling on what to do, who suggested that Andre simply reverse the charm on the trousers. Andre was unconvinced, but took Jacob's sibling to the Boathouse in order to work on Jules' scarf. Jacob's sibling helped them complete the scarf and Andre took them on a romantic date by the Great Lake as thanks. He also gave his trousers to Jacob's sibling after he had worked up the courage to reverse the charm on them.[2]
Badeea's exclusive quest[]
A portrait of Badeea Ali
Badeea heard about a tea set that had arrived at Zonko's Joke Shop by mistake and was subsequently being auctioned off by Bilton Bilmes. Badeea really wanted the tea set because it reminded her of a tea set that she had played with as a child. However, she didn't have the money to purchase it. Jacob's sibling took Badeea to the auction so they could try to convince Bilton not to sell the item. Bilton was sympathetic to Badeea's plight and promised they could have it if they invented a new trick for him to sell. Together, she and Jacob's sibling came up with a tooth vanishing Liquorice Wand, which impressed Bilton enough to give them the tea set. Badeea then invited Jacob's sibling up to the Astronomy Tower, where she had set out the tea set and painted a painting of the mountains around Hogwarts Castle. During their party, Badeea told Jacob's sibling about her childhood friend and later gave Jacob's sibling a scarf as thanks.[3]
Barnaby's exclusive quest[]
A portrait of Barnaby Lee
Barnaby asked Jacob's sibling out on a date in the Boathouse. However, he was nervous and decided to visit the creatures in the Magical Creatures Reserve to calm himself down. Whilst there, he accidentally lost the gift he was going to give Jacob's sibling and was unable to set up the date in the Boathouse like he wanted. Meanwhile, Jacob's sibling came to the Boathouse to find a nervous Barnaby. Jacob's sibling calmed Barnaby down and he explained what happened. Jacob's sibling brought Barnaby to the Magical Creatures Reserve along with a Niffler to find the item. The Niffler found the item and Barnaby went back to the boathouse with it, setting up the date he wanted and inviting Jacob's sibling when it was ready. He thanked Jacob's sibling for being accepting of him and gave them the gift: an Occamy bracelet made of Occamy eggs.[4]
Chiara's exclusive quest[]
A portrait of Chiara Lobosca
Chiara had gotten wind of a secret concert by the Weird Sisters and wanted to invite Jacob's sibling. She asked Jacob's sibling to a study date in the Divination Classroom to then ask them about wanting to go to the concert. When Jacob's sibling agreed to go to the concert, they first had to find it. They went to the Three Broomsticks Inn and spoke to Rosmerta, who told them where it was most likely going to be, Hogsmeade Station. They went there and found the Weird Sisters prepping for their concert. Whilst Chiara was getting drinks, Myron Wagtail went to say hello to Jacob's sibling, who asked him to dedicate a song to themselves and Chiara, which Myron agreed to. After the concert, Chiara gave Jacob's sibling a bracelet as thanks.[5]
Jae's exclusive quest[]
A portrait of Jae Kim
Jae invited Jacob's sibling out on a date, but first needed to steal something from Filch's office. Jacob's sibling met Jae in the Artefact Room, where he told them about his plan to steal something from Filch. Jacob's sibling agreed to help and the pair snuck into Filch's office and looked through his confiscated items until Jae found a Remembrall. He had wanted one for ages, but his family was too poor to buy one. Before they could leave, the pair were caught by Filch who promised to give them detention. However, Jae took all the blame instead. He then invited Jacob's sibling to Knockturn Alley, where he had set up a date for them. At the end of the date, he gave Jacob's sibling the remembrall they had stolen.[6]
Penny's exclusive quest[]
A portrait of Penny Haywood
Penny's grandmother sent Penny her old cauldron along with a riddle. When Penny recieved the riddle, she asked for Jacob's sibling's help in solving it. Jacob's sibling agreed and the pair went in search of the item which the riddle referred to. Eventually, they figured out that the riddle referred to Dittany leaves and, when Penny placed the Dittany leaves in the cauldron, another message appeared. Penny then took Jacob's sibling out on a picnic date to the shore of the Great Lake, where she revealed that her grandmother had sent her something else, a jumper, but she gave it to Jacob's sibling instead.[7]
Talbott's exclusive quest[]
A portrait of Talbott Winger
Madam Villanelle was holding a poetry contest in Flourish and Blotts and Talbott wanted to enter. However, he was having difficulty finding inspiration for a poem and invited Jacob's sibling to the Owlery for help. Jacob's sibling helped Talbott with finding inspiration by suggesting they go to the shore of the Great Lake and that Talbott write something that commemorated his dead mother. Talbott agreed, but didn't finish the poem and, after Jacob's sibling left, he wrote a different poem entitled Future Heart about himself and Jacob's sibling, which he submitted to the poetry contest and performed in front of Jacob's sibling. After he performed his poem, he gave them a jumper as thanks for their help.[8]
