- "Erumpent horns, tails, and the Exploding Fluid are all used in potions, though classified Class B Tradeable Materials."
- — Newton Scamander, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Exploding Fluid was a magical substance found in the horn of the Erumpent. It caused anything that was impregnated with it to explode. It was highly valued as a potion ingredient, and was listed as a Class B Tradeable Material.[1]
History[]
On 30 December 1997, an Erumpent horn in the Lovegood House was struck by a stray Stunning Spell cast by Xenophilius Lovegood aimed the trio, whilst his house was being ambushed by Death Eaters. This caused the fluid inside to explode, causing significant damage to the dwelling.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
- In the handheld versions of LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4, Harry Potter has to get past a metal double-door in Knockturn Alley. He is given this Fluid to explode the door by a Mystic Wizard in exchange for two scarab beetles.[3]
