- "At the very end of the corridor hung a portrait of a very fat woman in a pink silk dress."
- — Description[src]
The Fat Lady's Corridor[1] was a passage on the seventh-floor of Hogwarts Castle, about five minutes away from the Divination corridor,[2] and was accessible from the seventh-floor corridor and the North Wing.[1] Classrooms 7B and 7C were located off of the corridor.[3] The corridor's namesake hung at the very end of the corridor,[4] concealing the entrance to Gryffindor Tower. After Sirius Black's attack on the Fat Lady, Cadogan took her place, and security trolls were later stationed there to protect her once she was returned.[5]
Behind the scenes[]
- In the first and second PC video game adaptations of the first two Harry Potter books this corridor is located next to the Entrance Hall, being a spiral stairway up to an area on which the Fat Lady's portrait is located. In the PC video game adaption of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban this corridor is located on the Grand Staircase seventh-floor and is a square shape. The Fat Lady's portrait is on the left-hand side, and on the right-hand side, there's a small room with a portrait of Leopoldina Smethwyck.
- From the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban onwards, the Fat Lady's portrait and the Gryffindor common room were not located in this corridor, instead being found directly on the Grand Staircase seventh-floor.
- The corridor likely had windows, as it was described as moonlit in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix book.[6]
