- "Today in Transfiguration Class we will learn how to turn cats into cauldrons. We will begin with a practical demonstration. Watch me and watch this cat. You should have seen this before."
- — Professor McGonagall to third-year students[src]
The Felifors Spell (Felifors) was a transforming spell that turned cats into cauldrons. It was covered in Transfiguration classes at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. If performed improperly, the cauldron could still have a tail.[1]
History[]
During the 1986–1987 school year, the spell was taught to third-year students in Transfiguration class by Professor Minerva McGonagall.[1] Failed cauldron transfigurations were previously used by second-year Transfiguration students to practise the Reparifarge spell on, during the 1985–1986 school year.[2]
Etymology[]
From Latin "feles", meaning "cat" or "felinus", meaning "pertaining to cats", with the -fors suffix attached.
Behind the scenes[]
- The incantation is a misnomer, as it is indicative of a cat, but the spell transforms things into cauldrons, and not into cats. For example, Lapifors turns the target into a rabbit and Avifors the target into a bird. This might be a mistake from Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery developers, where the spell appears.
