The Felifors Spell (Felifors) was a transforming spell that turned cats into cauldrons. It was covered in Hogwarts' Transfiguration classes. If performed improperly, the cauldron can still have a tail.[1]
History
During the 1986–1987 school year, the spell was taught to the third year students in Transfiguration class.[1] Failed cauldron transfigurations were previously used by second year Transfiguration students to practise the Reparifarge spell on, during the 1985–1986 school year.[2]
Etymology
From Latin "feles", meaning "cat" or "felinus", meaning "pertaining to cats", with the -fors suffix attached.
Behind the scenes
- The incantation is a misnomer, as it is indicative of a cat, but the spell transforms things into cauldrons, and not into cats. For example, Lapifors turns the target into a rabbit and Avifors the target into a bird. This might be a mistake from Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery developers, where the spell appears.
